The GPLU is responsible for strengthening communication and collaboration between Gold Coast Health, Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) and General Practice.
Our unit works to improve patient care through innovation and healthcare integration.
The unit is jointly funded by Gold Coast Health and the GCPHN with offices at Gold Coast University Hospital.
The GPLU was established on 9 May, 2016, within the Demand, Access and Management Service Line in the Division of Cancer Access and Support Services, as a result of many years of collaboration between Gold Coast Health and the Gold Coast Primary Health Network (PHN). The GPLU incorporated the standalone role of the GP Liaison Officer (GPLO) within a larger team.
The GPLU has four team members, and are led by Dr Carl de Wet (GPLO) and Ms Karen Whitting (Program Manager).
Ms Whitting is responsible for planning, co-ordinating, managing and monitoring the GPLU’s program and activities.
We’re interested in your ideas on how to improve healthcare integration between our health service and primary care providers.
